About Eileen

Eileen Shuchat is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is also a member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Eileen completed her B.A. (Specialist Hons.) from York University in the early 1990s. She then obtained a Continuing Education Certification in public relations and communications from Ryerson University, and she is a Certified Coach Practitioner with the Canadian Coaching Federation. Eileen obtained her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology in May 2025 from Yorkville University.

Eileen was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, to one immigrant parent and one parent who himself is a first-generation Canadian. Eileen is proud to be a first generation Canadian from her mother.

It was later in life when Eileen made the decision to return to school to become a psychotherapist. After many years of community-based work, and work as a medical advocate, Eileen realized there is a great need for support for the many diverse communities that comprise the Greater-Toronto area, and throughout Ontario. Eileen is also chronically ill, physically disabled due to disease, and she is immunocompromised.

She understands from personal lived experience what it means to be a vulnerable person.

Even when one is blessed with good health, family, friends and a solid career, life can become stressful. Sadness and loneliness can become depression and helplessness. Thoughts and feelings can become heavy and feel overwhelming. Eileen provides support to individuals who feel alone, who need to be seen and heard, and who deserve to have their thoughts and feelings validated.

Therapy means someone will walk beside you. Sometimes therapy means learning about yourself. Individuals can expect to develop a greater sense of themselves, and bring meaning to their lives. People can also increase their skills and ability to handle all that life throws at them. Other times therapy means you will have help as you learn to cope with serious issues and challenges. Whatever your reason for attending therapy, Eileen endeavours to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can feel free to be yourself.

Eileen believes it is a privilege to be a therapist, and she would be honoured to join you on your healing journey. Working with Eileen means you are no longer alone.
